Dining options in Seminyak - Bali
The beautiful island of Bali is one of the more than thousand in Indonesia. The island is nothing short of paradise and the destination final for the style of adventure and relaxing holiday retreat. Apart from the incredibly picturesque tropical settings people Bali is one of the easier on Earth and one of the reasons why this island draws me back year after year. One of the main attractions for tourists of all distinctions is the array of quality, affordable and unforgettable dining experiences and not of the province of the island makes it better than Seminyak.
Having traveled to Bali at least a couple of times a year for the past twenty odd years I have compiled a list of my favorite restaurants. This compilation includes dining of the highest, to coincide with any other in the world, to the more casual and simple but still extraordinary. Each of these food establishments have been included as a result of my own personal experience. Although many others deserve a place, these restaurants are my own personal three superior quality, service, value and atmosphere. I start with my time all number one favorite:
Last restaurant:An Italian restaurant with a charming modern interior. They exist in areas with air conditioning and outside, outdoor dining options. A large square bar is the main focus at the center of the restaurant with the adjacent kitchen. Menu options seem almost endless with the likes of Carpaccio of salmon, ham of Parma and melon, options of various seafood, numerous Pasta dishes and a wonderful selection of Pizza. My personal favorite and something seems to as soon as land in Bali is the Saltimbocca. Desert which may not exceed the decadence of the Hot Chocolate Pudding, literally melts in your mouth. The biggest surprise comes at the end of the afternoon when it is time to pay the Bill. For the level of service, quality of food and the wonderful atmosphere there is no better value for money in the island. A three course for two meal will probably come to less than US $30. This is an absolute "must do" in your list of dining options while staying in Bali.
Ta Ku: First and perhaps most importantly, reservations are essential in Ta Ku. Above the magnificent dining experience the environment and atmosphere of this establishment is what makes it independent. Located on the beach of Seminyak and I mean right on the beach this restaurant and bar is another of their "to do" list. Recommend you arrive by 6 pm regardless of your reservation time to take in the magnificent sunsets offered almost every night in Bali. The bars are interior, foreign and the nearby day beds and covered areas offer the perfect position to take in the scene. This is an excellent dining experience and match prices. Do not wait to leave this restaurant without having spent a small fortune, but in terms of relationship for money it's worth every penny.
The Chef is Australian and their menus change on a regular basis, which is one of the attractions. The food is best described as "fusion cuisine". Most of the products is imported from Australia and Europe including oysters, beef, lamb and venison. Interesting features wine list many wines of Australia, California, Chile, France, Italy, New Zealand and South Africa and starts around $65 per bottle. Sparkling wines by the glass are $15 to $20 and the range of bottles from US $60 to us $300 for a bottle of KRUG Brut Grande Cuvée. In Bali is the place to see and be seen and every Friday and Saturday evening there is entertainment provided by a very energetic DJ.
Breeze: Located at Samaya Resort near Ta Ku may well be most spectacular in Bali but Beach relaxed setting, with excellent views of the sunset, the sound of the waves and immaculate service, most likely most romantic place of the island for gastronomy. On my last visit the menu includes a delicious seared bread Périgord Foie Gras with Compote of ginger, crab with crispy soft shell with green mango papaya salad, a shrimp Bisque lobster & River and a very tasty cream of mushroom forest with truffle essence. As with any good restaurant menu changes regularly but the style is better definition as 'modern fusion cuisine'. When the last spoke with the chef a few months behind the restaurant and resort when experiencing some reforms it would be better to consult your evening of planning with prior booking.
Whatever your budget and no matter where choose to be in this small piece of paradise, a thing which will grow to discover is that eating is a part of the adventure. There are countless options to explore and in over twenty years I'm still finding new and wonderfully indulgent experiences. So when your next Bali, sit, relax and enjoy your meal.
