You know - in September 1988, Anthony Conrad Nesty, a black athlete, taking a major shock when he became Olympic champion. Since then, he has directed nearly all his energy to become Olympic champion. Despite he won to a gold medal in the Pan American Games in 1987 in Indianapolis, United States, Nesty was not considered a contender for a medal in the butterfly 100 meters at the 1988 Seoul Games. Twenty years later, in 2008, the Committee Olympic Surinamese honored his achievement to name its to carry the national flag in the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games. Anthony Conrad Nesty is undoubtedly the best male swimmer ever produced by Latin America, ahead of Felipe Muñoz (Mexico), Rafael Vidal (Venezuela), Ricardo Prado (Brazil) and Jorge Delgado Panchana (Ecuador).
